There are no hard rules pertaining to color worn...

In the books...
A white silk is a virgin,
A red silk a non virgin

A yellow silk is often worn by paga slaves, and a scarlet silk a dancer.

Color is more of a symbol. A dancer can be dressed in purple, a red silk dressed in gold.

There is a lot of confusion in the online environment over the color of slave silk and what the color of this silk means.
Nowhere in the writings is the color of silk an indication of the 'level' of a slave.

So why do we use colors to indicate the level of a slave in RLC?

It gives the girl a sense of achievement. It is exciting to reach each color and eventually achieve the coveted red silk status. It also lets others know the level of the slave.

Although, we personally like to stick to the books as often as possible. We do like the idea of having colors show a girl's advancement.

Quotes:

"Cernus turned to Caprus, who stood near him. "Is she trained?" he asked. "No," said Caprus. "She is Red Silk but she knows almost nothing." (Assassin of Gor)

"Similarly, the expression "red silk," in Gorean, tends to be used as a category in slaving, and also, outside the slaving context, as an expression in vulgar discourse, indicating that the woman is no longer a virgin, or, as the Goreans say, at least vulgarly of slaves, that her body has been opened by men." (Blood Brothers of Gor)
"Are you white silk?" I asked. "I am a virgin," she said. "Then you are white silk," I said." )Explorers of Gor)

"I, too, glanced at her. She was not trained. She did not know slave dance. Her movements were those of a virgin, a white-silk girl." (Players of Gor)

"Its contrasting term is "white silk," usually used of slaves who are still virgins, or, equivalently, slaves whose bodies have not yet been opened by men." (Blood Brothers of Gor)

"Of course," said Ho-Tu, "you may not have her tonight, for she is White Silk." (Assassin of Gor)

Ho-Tu looked at me and grinned. "They know nothing of men," said he. "You mean they are White Silk?" I asked." (Assassin of Gor)
